Nose Surgery
There are two basic approaches to nose surgery, the open approach and the closed approach. Dr. Fox uses the open approach. The open technique involves incisions on the side of the nose and the separation of the skin from the underlying tissue and cartilage. Dr. Fox then shapes the underlying tissue and cartilage to achieve the desired change in the size and shape of the nose as discussed with the patient during the planning consultations. If the desired change in the nose is relatively modest the procedure can be completed within two hours. Alternately, if more complex contouring is required the procedure may take longer.
Once the required changes to the underlying tissue and cartilage are completed, the skin is put back on top of the cartilage and the incisions are sutured. In most instances Dr. Fox will place a splint over the nose for the first week or so in order to provide support and shaping for the newly redesigned nose.
